Some More Interesting Computer Info...

here's some tips to protect your computer while online... or with e-mail...

Let's talk about cookies, some are harmless, and just keep track of what you look at

or what you type in search so next time you go there it can keep things of your interest

right at the beginning, like a bookmark.. sometimes that ok....

but some are very harmful trackers...and send information to hackers,

stuff on your harddrive, personal information, even keystrokes and passwords!!

some generate pop up windows by the dozens and some can even add porn stuff

to your browser or send your e-mail address to porn spammers.

and even if you delete your cookies each time, some have self regenerating commands

tucked in your system registry. Yikes! and tinkering with the registry can be

disastrous, if you don't know what you are doing. Now there are some

companies offering various programs that hunt down these "spy" programs

but actually themselves are spy programs as well..tsk tsk a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I have found one BETA program that does clean your system and you should

run it every day, only takes a few seconds...and it is FREE....and I have not

had an adverse effects from this software, I do believe it is clean.

Now... another subject of growing concerns.

Viruses. Please keep in mind that hundreds are created every day.

just like a human disease it has to be discovered, documented cases and a cure

created before it can even be turned into an antivirus and or an update to an antiviurs

program, and just like the FLU the same bug is mutated or programmingly changed enough

so Antiviruses cannot detect them, I have run into so many people who seem to think

just because they run an antiviral and or a firewall they are safe...NOT!!!!!

now this trick will Not protect YOU..but it will send you a warning message that

you have been infected. See the newest worms have the intelligence to spread the bug

to everyone in your address book, but it will make the "sender" appear to either fake names

or will use each of the other names from your own address book, thus confusing everyone as

to WHO has the bug..THUS this now RULES OUT the saying.. "Don't open an Attachment

unless it is from Someone You Know".. because these BUGS can  now pretend they are from

your Friends.. so my advice is SCAN ALL Attachments.    Now, in order to forewarn yourself

add to your address book this simple address....  name "A"  e-mail "AAAAAAA@AAAAAAA.com"

or some similar version so it appears at the top of your address book. NOW..there obviously isn't

any such address... (you may wish to test it out) and so when the Worm e-mails  to  it, then it will

return to you as NO SUCH USER..so when you recognize that address as being the bogus one in

your own address book, you will know.... It's YOU!!!!! You have a Bug. Warning Warning!

Help to Stop the Cycle... if you are getting e-mails with infected attachments and or another person

is getting some from you and is e-mails you, as to why are you sending this??? Then that should

signal to you that Both YOU and that OTHER person, even thought you do not know each other

HAVE e-mailed at one time the same person or business or website, who has Both of your

e-mail addresses in Their Address Book and they are infected. SO You gotta e-mail them and take

a close look at the headers of your e-mails, as they will multiply..and see if there is ONE common

address you both recognize... then you will know who to WARN. You have to Play Detective

and Work together to STOP the cycle. The infected person is assuming they are protected

and in some cases the e-mails will multiply to 100's a day. I went thru dozens until I finally realized

with the aid of a few other people who joined in the search   that it was a Museum

who we all e-mailed at one time. and Once we e-mailed them and advised them to

disconnect their Network and Scan...the e-mails stopped.

They later e-mail apologies to everyone.

ALSO what is good about the forewarning fake e-mail..

can stop you from some Embarrassing situations as some bugs, will send Duplicates of every message

you send to everyone else. SO if you say something personal or about somebody else, well the Secret

is out... so..really using this little fail safe warning address in your e-mail address book...is a great idea.
